Meditation Path
Seeking the presence of God

It is our belief that, as people of faith, we are constantly to seek
the presence of God – to be renewed by God’s presence so that we
may continue in our journeys of faith.  Meditation, in its simplest form,
is any way that we seek to accomplish that goal.  At SouthCross we have
been given the blessed gift of the wooded areas on our
church property for the purposes of enjoying this amazing creation and
to provide opportunities for our members and guests to seek the presence
of the Holy. We pray that you will experience that presence in your
time of meditation.

Our grateful thanks are extended to the members and friends of SouthCross
Community Church who have given of their time and treasure to make
this path a reality.  Particular thanks are offered to Jean Dando, in whose
memory the Stations of the Cross have been dedicated.  The Path is
dedicated to the memoryof the Rev. Fred Largen, whose vision and faith
first brought a congregation to this place.

If you would like to schedule a time for yourself or a group to experience
the Stations of the Cross, please contact the church office.  Those wishing
to enjoy the path without the Stations may do so at any time.

 THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS

The Stations of the Cross are a prayer/meditation/ritual practice that comes from the Catholic tradition.  In this experience, you are welcomed to remember the events of the day of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ by walking a journey through 14 “stations” or scenes from that day.  The primary focus of the stations is to remind the Christian of Christ’s sacrifice, as understood in the light of the resurrection.  This last part is important to remember.  We learn best from His sacrifice when we remember that we live in the reality of the resurrection.  The last word is Love!
On the first Saturday of each month (weather permitting), plus other times as requested and scheduled in advance, the Stations of the Cross are available to all who seek to experience this particular meditation form.  Portable CD players are on hand for your use so that you can listen to recorded readings for each station.  You may walk the path at your own pace, pausing the recording between stations.  A bench is located at each station for those wishing to rest or stop for a while.

             WALKING THE PATH

While the Stations of the Cross are, for many, a meaningful part of the experience, our guests are welcome to walk the path for any purpose and at their own pace.  Whether you choose it as a time to commune with God’s amazing creation or to take some much-needed time for prayer or just to be quiet for a while, we invite you to enjoy this special place.  We ask only that you respect the quiet space of others using the path and refrain from loud noise or conversation.
